Your Heart is Counting on You!

If you’re single, you don’t have to have the blues on V-Day, but it’s not about chocolates and roses. It’s all about YOUR heart.

In support of the American Heart Association and the Go Red for Women Campaign, (www.goredforwomen.org), "Single 101" author Celeste Friedman believes it’s time to take a brand new look at this traditional holiday. The power of love this Valentine’s Day will grow from being a little selfish, focusing on self-love.

With communications and technology moving at the speed of light, we’re rocketing right past the most important part of what makes us all tick- our hearts. Why not celebrate this year by giving to that part of our bodies we take for granted? Cardiovascular disease is currently rated as the number one killer of women in America.

If you're single, those days are over being lonely or feeling sorry for yourself on Valentine's Day. You CAN turn those blues into reds!

Top 5 Cures for the Blues on Valentine’s Day from Single 101

1. Heal Your Heart

Focus on diet, get more rest and take time for tranquility

2. Spend Time with Loved Ones

Reach out and give to others who need your love, time and attention

3. Show Your Heart how much You Care

Exercise, get a screening, check on your heart, find out how you can participate in "Go Red for Women"

4. Pamper Yourself

Treat yourself to a spa treatment, makeover, massage, join a gym or sign up for a yoga class

5. Get Away from It All

Based on affordability, visit a place you’ve always dreamed of or treat yourself to a comfy B&B for a weekend.

Happy New Year!

The Single 101 Nation rings in the new year partnering with the American Heart Association, supporting the “Go Red for Women” campaign. Launching on Valentine’s Day of 2011, I will donate 10% of the book sale proceeds to the Hilton Head Island local chapter.

It will be great to return to the Low Country this February, where I was a resident of Hilton Head in the early 1990’s. I’ll have a chance to spend some time with my dear friend Monty Jett on WLOW Radio, 107.9, enjoy lunch and sign books in Bluffton at Books ‘n Brew on the 18th. Saturday, Feb. 19th will be so exciting, exhibiting with best selling authors from across America and Europe at the 4th Annual Savannah Book Festival. http://savannahbookfestival.org/

As I cross the country promoting my book, “Single 101: 101 Reason to Celebrate Being Single”, I think of how each reason exemplifies freedom and happiness. In order to find that peace of mind we all search for, we must protect our hearts in love and healthy living.

The Go Red for Women movement’s main mission is to reduce heart disease and stroke. Heart disease continues to be the Number One killer of women across the world and more women die of cardiovascular disease and stroke than the next four causes of death combined including all forms of cancer.

February 4, 2011 is National Wear Red Day. For more information on how you can donate or participate in getting the word out to those you love, register online at www.goredforwomen.org. It’s free to join and working together to protect our hearts, we can be free of this dreaded disease.

Happy New Year and Go Red!
